Duo of KYZEN Solutions Save Santa from Going off-Course
Advances in high-performance electronics occur virtually by the second. That means the Sleigh Maintenance and R&D teams of North Pole elves must work just as hard as the KYZEN Clean Team to ensure Santa’s Sleigh is ready for the most important flight of the year.
Two major advancements in recent years have driven upgrades in the sleigh’s operations dashboard and flight system. How do Santa and the elves ensure reliability in the important technology that keeps the sleigh on-course and on-pace as the big man prepares for his annual delivery? A pair of KYZEN products tailored specifically for the cleaning challenges presented by printed circuit boards and advanced packaging.
The Auto-Santa Piloting System acts just as it sounds in the latest Level 5 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems). It is this advanced automatic piloting system that drives the sleigh, controlling the reins of all nine reindeer and safely driving the vehicle at jet speeds when needed. The sleigh maintenance team uses MICRONOX MX2708 for cleaning the Cu pillar flip chips used in the advanced packages that are imperative in the operation of the Auto-Santa Piloting System.
Santa is on a tight deadline to deliver all presents in the slim window between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to ensure that children worldwide can enjoy their gifts on-schedule. Detours are not an option. Neither are GPS failures or malfunctions. To keep Santa at top speed and on-course, whether under reindeer or jet power, the sleigh maintenance team uses AQUANOX A4727 to guarantee smooth global flying. A4727 reliably removes even the toughest of solder flux residues in even the most difficult Pb-free and no-clean formulations. As a bonus, it’s compatible on a wide variety of components, coatings, labels, and equipment.
As always, if you have any questions about AQUANOX A4727 or would like to request a trial/sample, don’t hesitate to let us know!
Stencil Cleaning: Make it Work for You
In the electronics industry, there is a frequently used phrase that is highly debated, “To Clean or Not To Clean”. While this may seem biased since we are a cleaning company, the data is hard to dispute. If you aren’t cleaning your stencils, you should be. Built-up solder paste won’t go away on its own, and the longer you wait to remove it, the harder and more expensive it becomes to get rid of, not to mention the downstream issues a bad print can cause.
Luckily, there are multiple options for how you can clean: offline in a washer, manually, and underside wipe on printer. For offline stencil cleaning, we recommend using KYZEN E5631 or CYBERSOLV C8882. KYZEN E5631 can be used in a spray-in-air or ultrasonic systems. CYBERSOLV C8882 is a great choice as an IPA replacement for manual cleaning or understencil wipe in your printer. C8882 dries similarly to IPA and is non-flammable making it a superior cleaning option. Both solutions have proven effective on most fluxes and adhesives, making these products a great choice for getting the best clean possible.
Want to do it all with one product? KYZEN offers one product that works for both printers and offline stencil cleaning, KYZEN E5631J. This pour and go, ready-to-use solution allows it to clean all types of raw solder pastes without having to worry about measuring and monitoring. It has also been tested compatible and works in all major printer brands.
As we are closing in on a new year, it is time to let your stencils work for you. If you aren’t already cleaning or if you want to take your cleaning to the next level, reach out to a KYZEN Cleaning Expert and let them start your New Year off on a Clean Note! Meet The Clean Team
Chuck Sexton – Global Product Line Manager – Industrial
Chuck Sexton Retires…An end to a stellar career! At KYZEN, we are fortunate to hire great people who join us and stay around for many years. While we love fostering such strong relationships with our employees, it is bittersweet when they move on. After being with KYZEN for over 21 years, Chuck Sexton is saying goodbye to KYZEN and hello to a well-deserved retirement.
Over the years, Chuck has become an integral part of the KYZEN family, a trusted expert in the industrial cleaning arena as well as the resident Starbucks and Chardonnay expert. His wealth of experience and key contributions have played a pivotal role in the success and growth of our organization. Chuck has always been available to answer a question or solve a problem no matter what time zone he was in or where in the world he happened to be.
As we send him off into retirement, we look back with pride and admiration at all of the projects, challenges, and wins Chuck had a hand in – each showcasing his knowledge, experience and dedication. While we say goodbye to an amazing colleague and friend, we also extend our heartfelt gratitude for the years of hard work and dedication that Chuck displayed. Here’s to hoping Chuck’s retirement is all about kicking back, getting in more skiing, sharing a few bottles of chardonnay with his lovely wife Celia, and enjoying some downtime.
Cheers to you, Chuck!
Stephen Griffith – Regional Manager MidAtlantic & Carolinas
Stephen Griffith, also known as Griff, serves as KYZEN’s Regional Manager for the MidAtlantic and Carolinas region. He joined the KYZEN Clean Team in late-May of 2023.
Stephen has spent the entirety of his life in North Carolina, growing up in the small town of Minneapolis on the western side of the state and now living on the state’s east coast in Wilmington. In joining the KYZEN Clean Team, Stephen brings his desire for the best for others and is dedicated to service over self, based on his religious upbringing. In his short time with KYZEN, Stephen has been impressed by the incredible intelligence and dedication of the Clean Team and how KYZEN “brings out the best in all their employees.”
Stephen earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology from Mount Olive University (the very same as the brand of pickles found in most grocery stores) in Mount Olive, NC. He previously served in law enforcement and proudly continues to identify as a law enforcement officer. After his time as a LEO, he entered the cleaning chemical industry. He worked with a company that manufactured green chemistries used in the convenience store industry.
When not serving KYZEN customers, he enjoys working with his hands and the science of Hot Rod cars. So much, in fact, if he could give advice to his younger self, he would recommend studying to become a mechanical engineer.
KYZEN Quality: A Resolution You Can Keep
A new year brings new resolutions and commitments to bettering personal lives or business practices while embracing the opportunities presented in the next 366 days (2024 is a leap year).
KYZEN aims to make 2024 another year of quality and with that, the reliability demanded by continuous improvement. Though quality extends beyond the lone concept of reliability, it is woven into every ounce of KYZEN chemistry and the processes that create them to serve our customers.
Each blue drum of a KYZEN product contains more than just gallons or liters of quality cleaning chemistry. Each drum and the product within would not arrive to a satisfied customer without dedicated hours of extensive testing to ensure quality and reliability.
It begins in R&D then heads to our world class applications lab for hundreds of hours of rigorous cleaning process testing to ensure it meets the given requirement and the award-winning KYZEN standard. Once the product is proven effective it moves to production where every KYZEN product goes through strict quality analysis before it is dispensed into blue barrels for on-time arrival to its destination.
In addition to our manufacturing quality standards, KYZEN performs customer cleaning evaluations and process quality testing which stand at the frontline of a customer’s cleaning needs. KYZEN’s experienced technical team of engineers and process technicians provide a wide range of analyses like determining if a solution is compatible with a metal substrate and selecting the ideal cleaning solution or, in a recent example, conducting customer-requested evaluations examining chemical compatibility for Thermal Interface Materials. Read the Case Study Here!
What ensures KYZEN quality after the drum reaches a customer? A full team of KYZEN cleaning experts where you need them – helping with start-ups, trouble shooting or optimizing your cleaning machine. All the while, the Clean Team consistently provides insight and assistance to improve cleaning processes and keep customers on-track with their new year’s resolution.
The transition to 2024 not only marks another year of quality tested KYZEN products but also another year of science and care converging through an award-winning team of cleaning experts across five global facilities.
Continuous Improvement: The KYZEN Philosophy Toward Manufacturing Reliability
As KYZEN enters its 34th year providing cleaning chemistry and insight to various industries, we began to look at what has allowed us to come this far and what we hope continues in the years to come. One answer became clear: continuous improvement. Working in industries that are constantly changing meant we needed to be able to change and grow right alongside them. From the beginning, that is the key driver behind the organization and is a key pillar in our company’s success.
While our global manufacturing team constantly pushes to make the best quality product available, the continuous improvement doesn’t stop there. This commitment extends beyond the products and services we offer; it extends to our entire organization, from our sales and technical service team to our chemists and lab technicians, all the way to customer support and accounting. By actively learning, looking at market shifts, and developing cutting-edge technologies, we have secured our place as a trusted leader and partner in the pursuit of cleaning excellence.
Looking forward to a new year, KYZEN is already developing new cleaning technologies to drive continuous improvement, led by a team that anticipates the needs of tomorrow. We recognize that the challenges and opportunities ahead will require us to be responsive and forward-thinking, but with a whole organization dedicated to just that, we are excited to meet that challenge.
