A Case for Defluxing with Co-Solvent

Q: Should I use Co-Solvent for maintenance cleaning?

A: No, for standard degreasing, you do not need to have the Co-Solvent. Typically, a mono-solvent process will do a great job.

Q: When should I use solvent instead of aqueous?

A: If you can’t use water, it would be appropriate to use a solvent. The vapor cleaning process skips the immersion section, and is a water free process.

Q: Can water soluble flux residue be cleaned in co-solvent?

A: We would recommend a water cleaning direction if no further details were presented. A mono-solvent is lousy at cleaning water soluble flux, but the solvating agent brings more to the table.

Q: When do I need to change solution?

A: We need to look at process, your work, requirements, etc. How we do this is collect data on the bath and we try to marry it with quality data (IC or ROSE Testing). This will create a picture on when is my bath optimally used, and when should you change it out.
