ESG Series – Part 1

Q: Why should companies care about ESG?
A: It is great for the environment and society. It is also great for sustainability and long term-corporate health to have a plan in place for this.
Q: Are ESG Policies or Programs required?
A: It is not required, but some people invest based on these policies. If you have investors, it may be a good idea to get started.
Q: Do companies need to focus on all the aspects of ESG?
A: No not at all. You can focus on one aspect if you need to, such as replacing incandescent lights with halogen lights, or a small conversion to renewable energy, all of which would be a huge help.
Q: How do I go about starting to develop an ESG program? Is it expensive?
A: You can start small, changing lightbulbs, reducing energy, making sure lights are turned off, and water reduction. These small changes are not expensive and may in fact lead to more cost savings.
