Q: I’ve been affected by the PFAS/3M decision, and am qualifying new materials – How can I be confident that I won’t have to go through this process again right away?
A: Partner with someone who is looking at the most sustainable materials and future regulations. These protocols and decisions normally have a runway, where you will have a couple years to anticipate potential changes.
Q: Why is IPC-1402 titled “Standard for Greener Cleaners” rather than “Green”?
A: This relates to the theme of “continuous innovation.” What could be Green today may not be considered Green tomorrow. Or, I may not have the perfect Green choice today, but what can I do to be Greener than I am.
Q: My current cleaner isn’t GreenScreen Certified, is that OK?
A: Yes, there is nothing requiring you for using GreenScreen certified products but know that as the market is working to develop new products, we’re trying to use materials that will strive for that certification. If you’re product qualification cycles 10 years and you are 5 years in, there is no need to change. It is something to keep in mind for the future.
