Oil Separation Systems for Parts Cleaning

Systems to enhance your process.
–Josh Kramlick

Q: If higher temperatures reduce viscosity, how can I optimize my cleaning process and oil separation?

A: Re-evaluate your cleaning performance and if possible, run on the low-end of the recommended temperature range for your cleaning chemistry.

Q: Do spray and immersion systems have the same concerns?

A: Effectively yes. Spray systems, however, always rely on a process sub-tank and do not present the same issues as immersion tanks (i.e., part removal).

Q: My cleaning system does have an oil separator so why are my parts still oily upon removal from the immersion tank?

A: In immersion cleaning, a proper sparging system is key to getting the oil off the tank surface. Also, it is important to confirm that the oil level is below the tank weir.
