Does pH have an effect on cleaning agent performance in production?
A well-buffered wash solutions with a starting point at a pH of 7.0 to 8.0 will quickly decline in pH as it absorbs the acid. However, a well-buffered wash solution with pH of 9 – 10.5 will be able to absorb more acid and maintain stability.
Can pH neutral chemistry effect the skin of a production worker?
Yes, any chemistry whether it is in the neutral range or not has necessary solvents to remove flux and can cause skin irritation. Operators should take precaution and follow PPE guidelines when in contact with cleaning chemistries.
Can I measure concentration with pH?
Concentration can be measured with a refract meter or titration in some cases. Not by pH.
Does pH effect labels or coatings on a PCB?
Solvents, temperature, exposure, and mechanical energy is usually what effects labels, coatings, or markings. pH Employment in EAC Session Questions and Answers
